October Movie Review

hey since I hadn't posted in awhile i figured id give an october movie review.

The first movie I saw this past weekend was the sequel to Elizabeth entitled the Golden Age. Cate Blanchette puts out an exceptionally strong performence as the teflon don of old York. Blanchette is no doubtedly the frontrunner for leading performence by an actress and the movies costume direction should also be acknowledged come award season. The movie runs into problems from the weak performences from secondary charactors. The plot as well lingers at points and then moves to quickly especially during scenes depicting the defeat of the Spanish Armada. I was impressed by the movie and will consider seeing the eventual finale of this will be trilogy. I give Elizabeth: the Golden Age an 8 out of 10.

For dissapointing movies ive seen this weekend Michael Clayton takes the cake. I watched the whole movie and honestly I cannot tell you what Michael Clayton does. Id be interested to know if George Clooney even reads the scripts of the pictures he decides to do. The charactors were distant and unrelatable and George Clooney's Michael Clayton role seems familiar to every other role he plays where he finds his way out of trouble being suave and spitting out witty, one-liners. This movie was quite dissapointing but if you like being confused it might just be for you. I give Michael Clayton a 4 out of 10.

The last movie I saw reminded me of why I hate musicals. Across the Universe, the made for big screen musical based off the music of the Beatles was a combination of Rent and Forest Gump. It was fun and playful much like the music of the Beatles but the plot was so poorly put together it wasn't even worth paying attention to. I would recommend seeing this movie on acid. I give Across the Universe a 5 out of 10.
